The submission process is structured to guide the design process and give our judges the opportunity to give you feedback along the way.
Round 1: What’s your idea? (Optional)
Get your idea out of your head. Download the submission form here. Fill it in, however you would like, then email it back to us at [email protected] with the headline: name, Round 1.
We will send all Round 1 Submissions to our first round of Judges and get them back to you with feedback by August 11th.
You can:
Create your renderings on a computer, and insert them into the form.
Scribble them on a napkin and scan them into the form.
Make a sketch model and take pictures of it to insert in the form.
Whatever is the best way for you to get your first sketch out there, do that.
Remember that the judges are just looking for your ideas at this stage, so don’t feel like a polished final design is all that is necessary.
DEADLINE: July 22nd

Round 2: Reflect, revise, and personalize
If you participated in Round 1, this is when you get to implement the feedback you receive and further develop your idea.
If you are jumping in after Round 1, we're gonna ask you to do a version of Round 1 at home with friends or colleagues or whoever you like to throw ideas around with and submit the Round 1 Submission along with your Round 2 Submission (we're looking for your ability to iterate here.)
Submit your Round 2 idea in a PDF format that clearly states and shows your idea.
The top five submissions will be selected by the judges and invited to come to the 2014 A Better World by Design conference in Providence, RI from September 19th to the 21st to present their ideas to the final panel of judges. Submissions will be returned to submitters beforehand with feedback from the judges.
